Upcoming
Irene Cortes: 1995-2013
June 6 - 28, 2013
Closing Reception with the Artist: June 28, 2013, 7:00pm
Irene Cortes 1995-2013 is at once broad and retrospective. The exhibition contains her long-term, critical and artistic practice as well as her “lifework.” And it provides, with mindfulness and proximity as its key values, an extended view – on the people we live with and the environment we inhabit; on art, its duties and possibilities; and on the artist herself. Constituting photography, sculpture, performance, installation, film, video, and music this exhibition marks her debut solo exhibition in Canada.
An illustrated catalogue will accompany the exhibition with an essay by Ramona Heinlein, independent researcher and writer, Germany and text by Evan Tyler, Director of gallerywest, Toronto.
